Troubleshooting

The Climate Control Sleep System represents a quantum leap in sleep technology. Although the product is revolutionary in itself, it utilizes the same technology and components that have been installed in over 6 million passenger car seats. Because individuals have unique anatomy, temperature needs, and expectations, the user experience may vary. To assist in your understanding of this groundbreaking product we have provided this troubleshooting guide to assist in answering some operational questions you may have.

Symptom Solution
Neither side of bed is operating.
  • Verify MCU is plugged in.
  • Turn the MCU OFF and wait 30 seconds. Turn ON to reset electronic components.
  • Electrical circuit breaker may be tripped. Check electrical service breaker box to confirm.
  • Verify electrical outlet is working; test by plugging in a different working appliance.
  • Verify that the power switch is in the ON position.
One or both sides of the bed turns off while in use.
  • Verify all cords are firmly plugged into back of MCU.
  • If fault code is displayed, note the code(s) and turn the MCU OFF for 30 seconds. Turn ON to reset electronic components.
  • One of the tubes may be improperly inserted between mattress and foundation. Check by lifting corners to verify tubes are inserted. See Installation section of the manual to review placement of tubes.
  • Ensure that there are no obstructions between the outlet of the fan at the tube and the underside of the mattress.
  • Verify MCU is located in a well ventilated, dry location.
  • Ensure there are no obstructions under the bed limiting inlet airflow.
Heating or cooling performance on both sides of the bed seems weak.
  • If using a dust cover, be sure that holes have been cut in the surface covering the foundation to allow for air flow. See Installation section of manual that describes how to modify a bed skirt.
  • Verify that there are five (5) inches of clearance under the bed. Be sure there are no items stored under the bed.
  • Be sure you are not using a waterproof or non-breathable mattress cover.
  • One of the tubes may be improperly inserted between mattress and foundation. Check by lifting corners to verify tubes are inserted. See Installation section of the manual to review placement of posts.
  • Verify MCU is located in a well ventilated, dry location.
One side of bed works well, while the performance of the other side is weak
  • One of the tubes may be improperly inserted between mattress and foundation. Check by lifting corners to verify tubes are inserted. See Installation section of the manual to review placement of tubes.
The heating and cooling is not uniform from head to foot on the same side of the bed.
  • Ensure that there are no obstructions between the outlet of the fan at the tube and the underside of the mattress.
Cooling performance seems weak.
  • While in cooling mode, look at the MCU LCD screen. If the COOL ICON is blinking, your system is operating in HUMIDITY MODE with reduced performance. This is normal operation, reference page 17.
System is slow to respond to changes in heat and cool settings.
  • Pre-condition the bed by turning on thirty (30) minutes prior to getting into bed. The bed should be covered for insulating purposes. Use SHORT CUT KEY operation on the remote to start pre-conditioning. This is done by holding either the up arrow for two (2) seconds for heat, or down arrow for two (2) seconds for cool.
Remote does not work.
  • Verify you are using the correct remote for the appropriate side of bed.
  • Verify the batteries do not need to be replaced.
There is a strong foam odor from the mattress.
  • The odor will soon dissipate. You can rid the smell more quickly by putting the bed on high heat for a period of up to 40 hours (you do not need to be in the bed during this time). The bed is designed to shut down after a 10 hour period.
The bed is noisy.
  • Try operating the bed at a lower temperature. Lower settings turn the fan at a slower speed and will reduce overall noise.
  • If the bed is located on a hardwood floor, place a carpet or other sound absorbing material under the bed.

The main control unit (MCU) is designed with a set of pre-programmed fault codes to help identify potential issues with the CCSS bed. If at any point during operation one of these fault codes appears on the MCU screen, please take note of what is displayed. Next, unplug the power cord and wait 30 seconds before plugging it in again to reset the electronics. Power on the MCU. If the fault code still remains, please contact customer service at 1-844-4MY-TEMP or 1-844-469-8367 to describe the fault code and obtain help to remedy the issue.
